The great advantage of this shredder is that it does not cut the polystyrene but divides (disintegrates) it into balls.
Polystyrene (EPS) is drawn in by a pre-shredder between two rotating shafts on which tear teeth are mounted, which draw in and break the material to the required size of about 50x50mm. The pre-broken EPS falls down, it is extracted into the shredding chamber of the shredder. The chamber has a solid drum screen made of perforated sheet metal and rotating knives that distribute the material. The shredded particles are extracted under vacuum through the openings in the sieve into the container. The cyclone separates air from the transported material.
